Deep Tissue
Massage
Contrary to the standard view, a Deep Tissue massage is
NOT simply a Swedish massage with firmer/deeper pressure.
So what exactly is a
Deep Tissue Massage?
It's essential before you book a Deep Tissue massage treatment that you're confident this is the correct massage for you.
Our Deep Tissue massage treatment is recommended for those who regularly receive massages and seek more intense bodywork. We'll use specialized and focused techniques to reach deep muscle layers and address points of attachment and the center of the muscles.
Because this treatment is highly focused and your therapist will
spend more time working on specific muscle groups,
this is not considered a "full-body" massage.
A Deep Tissue massage manipulates the deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). Direct and deep pressure is often used to relieve chronic aches and pains, such as;
-
stiff neck;
-
sore shoulders;
-
tight muscles in the arms & legs;
-
lower back pain.
The firm pressure and deep strokes help to penetrate deeper layers. Essentially, a "Deep Tissue" massage is used to break up scar tissue
and physically break down muscle "knots" or adhesions (bands of
painful, rigid tissue) that can disrupt circulation and cause pain,
limited range of motion, and inflammation.
Deep Tissue massage bodywork is beneficial, but we understand that some people may hesitate to do this work. The truth is
that discomfort or "good hurt" can be expected, but a Deep Tissue massage shouldn't be painful. After your massage, you may feel stiffness or soreness, but it should subside within a day.
Our trained therapists work with each client based on their comfort level. However, everyone is different regarding pain tolerance, and Deep Tissue massage may not be for everyone.
Which massage is
best for me?
SWEDISH MASSAGE?
Swedish massage promotes relaxation and reduces muscle pain and tension caused by everyday activities. Your therapist can adjust the pressure used at your request.
OR DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE?
Deep Tissue massage uses different techniques to treat chronic pain and injury in isolated muscle groups.
